Psychological Support/Counselling
Foundation House - The Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture
Provides services and support for refugee adults and children from any country who have fled persecution, torture and war-related trauma. A multi-disciplinary staff team provide services in the form of counselling, advocacy, family support, group work, mental health clinic, psycho-education and complementary therapies. Services are free and confidential with offices in Brunswick, Dandenong and Ringwood.
Foundation House has also entered into arrangements with counselling services in regional locations with significant refugee populations to provide torture and trauma counselling and related advocacy. This includes Counsellor Advocates working in community health services, family support and health services. The work of the Counsellor Advocates in these services is actively supported by Foundation House's Rural Liaison Coordinator, through training and secondary consultation.
Referals can be made by phone and initial contact can be made by fax or email. Referrals can be discussed with the Duty Worker 9.30-11.30am Mon, Tues, Thurs, Friday. A waiting list applies. Client consent is essential.
